Winter Hunting and Fishing Update

Winter is definetly upon us now. Snow is down and fish are probably stuck in a cold snap right now. Hopefully with this rain it will clear out the snow and let the determined fishermen get out there and fish for those steelhead in the Boise River.

I got a few times out but skunked every time. I saw fishermen hitting them right and left the day they were stocked and even saw one rise right where my lure just landed. I was hopeful to catch but was left with an empty hook.

Although it was fun to get out and have some time on the water it was cold. Fish and game are supposed to bring one more load scheduled for Dec. 2, 2010 but it was delayed 24 hours for a revaluation of the roads.

Hunting season is still on for birds that is pick up your shotgun and your snow boots and head out. For those of you who love to play in the snow now is the time to get out.

Mule Deer Season

I went hunting opening day as many of the Idaho hunters did. I will not disclose details of my locations just to keep it simple.

I went hunting and walked close to 4 miles and found a spot to sit and glass for a while. A couple of hours went by and still nothing then I heard some people shooting thinking they were lucky unlike myself and saw some game. But heard the shooting continue on for while then stopped. I then made my way down the hill hoping that they missed their buck and he was on his way to run into me but no luck.

I hope more of you guys had better luck than me on opening day. I am hoping to have better luck on the Elk Season.

Steelhead coming to the Boise River!

I couldn't wait any longer to know if they were going to bring the steelhead to the Boise River so I went online to the Idaho Fish and Game website and asked if they were going to stock any this year in the river.

Then I just got an email from IDFG info that the steelhead are coming mid November and to watch the news for details.  The email will follow below:

We will probably plant them in mid-November (watch the news for details).

Are there going to be steelhead this year in the Boise River?

I know in the past I have seen them stocked in late October.

Thank you,
